INGREDIENTS
4 medium potatoes
Salt and pepper, to taste
¼ cup grated cheese
Top Class Southern Fried Chicken Coating
Water
Oil spray (for air frying)
METHOD
Peel and boil the potatoes until tender. Drain well and mash while hot until smooth.
Season with salt and pepper to taste, then allow the mash to cool slightly.
Divide the mashed potato into golf-ball-sized portions.
Place a little grated cheese in the centre of each portion and roll into balls, making sure the cheese is completely sealed inside.
Place the mash pops in the freezer until firm.
Lightly dip each mash pop in water, then coat generously with Top Class Southern Fried Chicken Coating.
Air Fryer
Lightly spray the coated mash pops with oil.
Air fry at 190°C for 12–15 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden and crispy.
Deep Frying Method
Heat the oil to 170°C.
Deep fry for 3 - 4 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
Drain on paper towel before serving.
Serving Suggestion
Serve hot with chunky tomato relish for the perfect crispy, cheesy bite!

Want to take your mash pops up a notch? Add finely chopped spring onion or crispy bacon bits to the mashed potato before rolling into balls for an extra burst of flavour!
